Holy Grail War AU Meme

Here's what's throwing down
1. The Holy Grail has appeared in the Drabwurld, selecting seven masters and seven servants to fight for it. An omnipotent wish granting device, winning this Grail could end the war of the courts once and for all.
2. Comment with your character. In the subject line, put that character's name, canon, and which role (Master, Servant, or either) you would like them to fulfill.
3. If you're going with the servant option, feel free to imply that your character reached a heroic status before they died in game. Remember, there's a great chance that there's an old friend summoning you to this fight, and you'll be fighting along side them.

TWO MASTERS


1. Battle. Who says that Servants get to have all the fun? After all, most Masters try to kill each other, too. Whatever the circumstances, the two of you are locked in a fight. Neither of you are willing to use your Command Spells just yet, so no Servants here. Just two magi duking it out.

2. Alliance. There's a bigger threat out there. Either one Servant is exceptionally powerful, or the situation has changed and the participants need to take action against it. One way or another, you're teamed up with one of your rivals for the Holy Grail. How long will this last before you try to stab each other in the back? Or, will something more develop?

3. Protection. Uh-oh! One of you has lost your Servant! Unfortunately, there's no way you'd get to the church safely on your own, so the other one will help you get there! Or maybe you don't trust the priest presiding over the Holy Grail War and are giving shelter to them yourself? Given their track record, no one would blame you.

4. Death. One or both of you lay dying. It might have been by the other's hand, or by someone else's entirely. How will you spend your last moments in the presence of one of your rivals?

5. You, Too? Surprise! You may have been friends before, but you've just discovered that you're both Masters! How will you handle this revelation?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!


MASTER AND SERVANT


1. Are You My Master? The summoning is complete. Whether intentional or not, catalyst or not, a magus has summoned a Servant. What kind of meeting was it? Was everything totally under control, or did a hitch occur? Or maybe it happened in the middle of a life-or-death situation!

2. Identity. Either the Servant has flat out told the Master their identity, or they unleashed their Noble Phantasm. Either way, the cat is out of the bag. How will the Master react, now that they know their Servant's name and legend? Will anything change between the two?

3. Battle Aftermath. A battle has just ended. Who participated? Are either of you hurt? Did the Master have to use a Command Spell? Any number of things could have happened here.

4. Discord. Uh-oh. It looks like the Master and the Servant don't get along. Here come the arguments! Don't do something stupid, like waste a Command Spell over a triviality...

5. Love. And then, there's the opposite. Sometimes Masters and Servants fall in love with each other. How will this affect things?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!


TWO SERVANTS


1. Battle. This is what usually happens when two Servants meet -- they duke it out. This probably says enough as it is.

2. Alliance. There's a bigger threat out there. Either one Servant is exceptionally powerful, or the situation has changed and the participants need to take action aginst it. One way or another, you're teamed up with one of your rivals for the Holy Grail. How long will this last before you try to stab each other in the back? Or, will something more develop?

3. The Grail Dialogues. Maybe you're not interested in fighting just yet. Maybe you just want to sit down and talk with the other Servant. Find out what they want, what makes them tick. Get some wine while you're at it -- nothing like good wine to go with good talk!

4. Death. One or both of you lay dying...again. It might have been by the other's hand, or by someone else's entirely. How will you spend your last moments in this War in the presence of one of your rivals?

5. Identity. Congratulations, you've just learned each other's identities! Will this change the situation, or will you press onward?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!

[The question is entirely serious, and Waver holds his hand out so that Rin can answer the question.]

[ It's a lie, but lying is so easy for her to do now. She's been lying to herself for years, so it's just a matter of convincing herself that he was. Cold like death, but she smiles while leaning in dangerously close. ]

It must be all that desert heat.

[gandere]

No way, you just sit there. [ Because within seconds, he's getting a lap full of Tohsaka and cloak. ]

I'm so glad.

[gordianknots]

[That's a lot of Tohsaka. Rider moves with her weight, and leans back more on the sofa so that he's comfortable.

Rin is cold, shit. Perhaps better for his cloak, but not by much. So he wraps both arms around her, and holds her tightly.]

[gandere]

[ A bit more than he's used to, yes. She likely asked for a growth spurt boon so she wasn't the shortest person among her allies. Once settled, her mind thinks of all the possibilities and outcomes for this war... but she has to tell him the reason why she called for him specifically. ]

We have to dismantle it once more. Real, fake. Whatever it is.

This is an artifact we can't allow to fall into the wrong hands.

[gordianknots]

No, we can't but.

[Rider stops himself, like realization has just dawned on him.]

If this Grail isn't corrupt, we could end the war here.

[gandere]

[ What is it he's trying to say? That they rely on the power of something like that to end a conflict that's taken place for years and years? Her grip lessens a bit on him, almost as if she's afraid of the very being she's summoned.

Wasn't he wiser..? He had always been someone better versed in these matters and here he was, suggesting the very thing they knew was taboo. ]

[gordianknots]

[Waver pauses. Considers his words, coupled with Rin's silence.

An uneasy laugh escapes.]

That bad a thought, huh?

[gandere]

I just don't think there's any way to end the war. [ This is a realm fueled by it.

A simple wish granting artifact won't change that. ]

[gordianknots]

Perhaps. But what if this Grail works as it was designed? It can grant any wish. One could wish that that stupid gem stone that's in every shardbearer's chest never split, never scattered, never caused a war to begin with. Every shardbearer who is, was, ever will be can't be pulled here by the monarchs. This place never experienced its war.

[He sighs, realizing how ridiculous it sounds.]

[gandere]

Then if what we've heard is true, we would have never existed in the first place.

[ That heavy speculation has been on her mind all this time. ]

[gordianknots]

That is a problem.

[And means that it's out of the question.]

And being selfish and using the Grail to save our own asses is right out.

[gandere]

What's that? You suddenly mind having existed?

I think you're exempt thanks to Rider.

[gordianknots]

Up until I got pulled into the Drabwurld, I had zero problems with my life! And even afterwards, certain people made it well worth my while.

[gandere]

Haa, and here I thought you were miserable the entire time.

Regardless, if what I said is true and you're exempt because of magic beyond this world... well, it's just a matter of convincing me to give up my own place.

[gordianknots]

You showed up, so that's impossible.

[Waver's got no warmth in him, except for those words.] And I could never demand that of you.

We ca either use wise words to trick the Grail into ensuring our survival and that of others while ending this war, or say fuck it and take it apart as we have. Your call.

[gandere]

I haven't decided yet. [ Good call. ]

There's not enough information known. I'm not entirely sure where it's manifested only that it has and High-Queen Morla asked me to oversee it. I decided I didn't really like that idea and well.

I'm certain I'll have pissed her off yet again.

[gordianknots]

[Waver grins, and gives Rin a gentle squeeze. There's pride in that action, doubled with that grin still on his face.]

You're not dead for refusing, so you're in a fine place.

Mostly because she's not able to track me. [ Rin's gotten really good with her shard. Why, she might even say she's better than the monarchs even if the statement is untrue. ]

You're smiling a lot for a Heroic Spirit. It's odd.

[ She's used to serious people like Saber and Archer, as well as Berserker. What's with this? ]

Because you've done so fucking much and I'm proud of you for it? Even if the circumstances should have me scowling?

Admittedly I was expecting you to chew me out for a good long while after this... ah, but what can I say? I'm pleased with myself.

You shouldn't say that to a lonely and sexually deprived woman. I might take it the wrong way.

[ She always did have a thing for her Servants. ] I mean, I don't know what I was expecting. Not this.

[ Not the scales and horns either. ]

[He groans, realizing that he ought to have expected that. But since he must have the last word on that matter:] I'd do terribly at that and you'd regret summoning me.

[He'll probably get shoved for that, even if they're snuggled up together. Worth it.]

Well, you have a loyal servant who's done this before and wants to make sure this is done right. You must have expected that, at east.
